In Las Vegas, the wedding capital of the world, love is in the air and in your face. More than 60 chapels beckon with bright lights and neon, all competing for Cupid’s business.
With so much at stake, the labor of love is not all hugs and kisses. No one knows this better than Vegas Adventure Wedding Chapel employee Jed Matzke.

LAS VEGAS — Jed Matzke sets out each day to guide love-struck couples to happily ever after.
It’s not as romantic as it might sound.
The first stop in Las Vegas for brides and grooms is the Clark County Marriage Bureau, at the corner of Clark and Third, down the street from a bail bondsman and the county jail. Matzke hangs out six days a week at the Pit, as some call the corner, smoking Marlboros, waiting for his shot.
It’s been a slow afternoon, but a casually dressed couple finally approaches the corner.
Matzke rushes the two, a flier in hand. His livelihood depends on the pair reading it and then committing to one of five ceremonies offered by Vegas Adventure Wedding Chapel, a short limo ride away.

Goin’ to the chapel …
That’s a popular refrain this week, when Las Vegas celebrates its status as wedding capital of the world.
And WE cable channel’s “Wedding Central” plans to join the celebration, focusing on everything “from quickie weddings to only-in-Vegas weddings to adventure weddings to super high-end” ceremonies, explains executive producer Eric Schotz.
In addition to trips to the Justice of the Peace, multiple chapels on the Strip will provide a focus for 10 to 15 separate stories, he notes.
